Red Wolves basketball in the Sno-Valley Sports Journal
Good Monday morning. We start this morning with another round of discussion concerning Cedarcrest High School’s basketball teams and their postseason chances.
Both the Red Wolve boys and girls remain very much in the postseason hunt, but the latest round of Northwest District Ratings Percentage Index numbers has some big changes of note to mention.
Those changes primarily are for the CHS boys. They have dropped out of the top eight, costing them a home game in the first two rounds if this were to hold. They have a ranking of .2864, good for ninth overall, but just ahead of 10th-seed Archbishop Murphy, who beat the Red Wolves head to head in both matchups between the two teams this season. A ninth seed right now would send Cedarcrest on the road for a loser-out game, against eighth-seed Bellingham, although if they drop into the 10th seed, that would send them against seventh-seed Lakewood. The injuries for CHS to their top players have really hurt them, as they have fallen in six straight games, so it’s hoped they’ll get guys back in time to make a late push for a home first-round game as a top eight seed.
CHS’ boys are at Shorewood Wednesday, also with an opportunity to stem their downward trend.
Two weeks are left in the regular season, so there’s time for both teams to make a late push, but the health of key players for both teams will be a factor, so we’ll keep watching it for you as things wind down.
